Here is The Goodrich building that comes with one stop shopping solution for your interior decorating needs. The Goodrich Gallery is situated in the 1st floor, mezzanine and 2nd floor. For furniture, kitchen sets, and wardrobe, joins in other levels. As we entered the lobby, we are coming to a spacey living room, where two brown sofas upholstered with soft leather fabric which complement Roberto Cavalli’s wallpaper, with its signature lion patterned, draped on one side of the wall. It is paired on another side with a khaki flowing curtain with damask motif from Kobe. Above, the ceiling is adorned with cream and gold Davenport wallcovering. The inner pantry is decked in white and features Elitis Parfum wallpaper depicting blue plates, an Eijffinger wallpaper with blue vertical stripes, and another Eijffinger wallpaper with crisscrossing white stripes that makes us sense the American style.
Unlike the typical wallcovering showrooms, Goodrich Gallery features a distinctive flair. Their wallpaper, fabric carpet and flooring collections, numbering to 500 in total, are not only hung as product samples but they are displayed in show-apartments that come fully furnished by Goodrich. This type of display makes it easier for guests to choose or find the perfect wallpaper for their houses. All they have to do is sit back and relax as if they were at home, see for themselves and enjoy the interior products on display until they finally come up with a decision. “The process of choosing wallcoverings or fabrics might take hours. Here we present a different store atmosphere so that guests feel comfortable in choosing our products,” explains Lunardy, the General Manager of Goodrich Global Indonesia.
The cozy ambiance that is offered by the gallery is inescapable from the addition of a mezzanine floor with a void which is placed adjacent to the living room. “The mezzanine floor between the first and second floor of the building is designed to facilitate guests in reaching the second floor of the gallery. In fact, it is hoped that they don’t feel like they are actually ascending to the second floor by stepping on the mezzanine level,” says Piter Gan of Piter Gan Architects, the architecture consultant in charge of Goodrich Building’s design.
Almost half the size of the living room, the mezzanine level appears grand with two pillars which actually are the main structures that support the whole building, from the basement to the top floor. Piter Gan adds that the supporting pillars are deliberately placed between the mezzanine level and the living room in order not to intrude on the activities inside the building. But he also says that initially the location was chosen to enhance the aesthetic of the gallery.
Moving to the Mezzanine, hand painted Imperial Peony wallpaper in green leaves and tiny flowers looks like a hanging garden. On its sides, red, gold, blue, and pink velvet Bamboo curtain is combined with 4 colored gradations from Omexco Mica, greets and leads the guests to the 2nd floor. Clad in Elitis Travertine wallpaper bearing a marble-like pattern, the concrete columns that originally appeared ordinary are transformed into a graceful decorative element. The combination makes a remarkable unification.
The Moroccan Room on the second floor of the gallery is one of the guests’ most favorite show-apartments to find some ideas regarding where and how to install the wallcovering. The red black and gold velvet of Elitis products from France are arranged in wooden paneling which bring the dramatic and spiritual atmosphere. Just across the room, Eijffinger Ibizaparaizo wall accent brightens up the space with red and green blossoms with Swarovski sparkles, making it the point of interest of the room. Next to it is the Carl Robinson ed. 1 wallcovering, featuring flowers embroidered with silver threads, draped delicately on the wall surface lined with the Elitis Nature Precious in bronze patterns. This creates the captivating compilation of product materials in this room.
The beautifully composed and coordinated design that incorporates wallcoverings, fabrics, carpets and floorings is also evident in other parts of the show-apartment, namely the dining room, working station, children’s bedroom and the main bedroom. Bluish fabric in damask motif, for instance, is applied on the padded wall which also functions as the backdrop of the bed. The color and pattern of the fabric is picked meticulously to match seamlessly with the Kobe bedcover collection, and fulfilled with white laces.
Many guests visiting the Goodrich galleries are not merely looking for wall covering, fabric, carpet, or flooring products. A lot of them are also searching for sofas, tables and chairs, as well as cupboards to complete the interior of their homes and offices. “Therefore on the top floors of our new building, we are also incorporating other showrooms that display various brands of furniture, kitchen and wardrobe products,” explains Jenny Simatupang, the Advisor of Goodrich Global Indonesia.
The 3rd and 5th floors of Goodrich Building house classic and modern style furniture products while the 6th floor showcases kitchen and wardrobe items with a modern and minimalist design. Piter Gan, as the architect of Goodrich Building, have prepared properly for the convenience of clients by placing an elevator in the right side of the lobby to accommodate clients moving from one level to another.
Above the showrooms, there is a penthouse designed purposefully as a function house for the architects, interior designers, and clients to gather, convene or have a discussion. To accommodate the various usages of the floors, Piter Gan created a unique façade: a purple glass featuring the contemporary Goodrich logo that complements the classic and modern decorative pillars. It is not surprising to see this building turns into the new benchmark of the locale.
