Ostensibly cartoonish but inherently meaningful, most of indieguerillas’ works are so blithe it’s easy to mistake them for a child’s. But creating artworks with thought provoking, autocritical memos targeted at millennials is no child’s play. Indieguerillas, a husband-and-wife duo of Dyatmiko ‘Miko’ Lancur Bawono and Santi Ariestyowati, consider themselves independent artists fighting for creative freedom amid a capitalist society fast forgetting its roots and heritage.
