Menteng House

When Marcus Vitruvius Pollio set out the basis of architecture in one of the oldest books in the world, ‘De Architectura,’ human civilization, one could argue, was also formed. The book contains concepts about the classical style that are explained in detail and have become the go-to reference for thousands of architects over many centuries, making the style eternal and unwavering amidst the changes of time. However, the style has gradually evolved over time, with some significant adjustments along the way. This can be clearly seen in the featured house located in Menteng, Jakarta. In spite of the changes, the norms established by Vitruvius regarding structure, function and aesthetic still define the purity of the style, and imbue a timeless appeal.
