Long known for its culinary appeal, Batavia PIK now embraces a new chapter of cultural storytelling, artistic collaboration, and imaginative expression.
As the sun sets, Batavia PIK transforms into a scene of enchantment, where golden light reflects across canals and heritage façades. Here, cultures, flavours, and histories intertwine, echoing Jakarta’s storied past as a maritime hub. Much like the old Batavia that once welcomed traders and travellers, this destination reimagines the spirit of cultural exchange in a modern, vibrant setting, where local heritage and contemporary creativity meet to create an atmosphere that is both dynamic and inclusive. Extending beyond its architecture and ambiance, Batavia PIK channels this vision into a trio of exciting new features for visitors to experience.
At the heart of Batavia PIK’s new features is Batavia Tales, a four-part open-air performance series created with acclaimed writer and director myhajo. Staged free to the public every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday at Alun-Alun Batavia PIK, the series began in April 2025 and will continue with its upcoming third installment, bringing the rich tapestry of old Batavia to life.
Complementing the performance is the Water Fountain Show, a dazzling prelude to Batavia Tales that debuted along Jembatan Kota Intan, attracting over 40,000 spectators. It enchants visitors with synchronized light, water, and sound, running twice daily from Sunday to Friday and three times on Saturdays. After the show, guests can continue their evening by indulging in a diverse selection of cuisines—from Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, and India to Italy and South Korea—making Batavia PIK a true feast for both the senses and the palate.
Creativity thrives through Batavia PIK’s collaboration with the internationally acclaimed Jember Fashion Carnaval. This partnership created the JFC Hub, an inclusive platform offering education in fashion and performance arts. Launching this year, the JFC Academy will host workshops in costume design, makeup artistry, and photography, while giving aspiring local creatives a pathway to join the official JFC parade and turn classroom learning into live performances.
“Through cultural programs at Batavia PIK, we aim to create a platform where Indonesia’s heritage is reimagined in ways that resonate with today’s generation,” said Anwar Salim, Director of Operating Units at Amantara. “We believe art has the power to unite, inspire, and foster meaningful cross-cultural collaboration.”
