With 15 years of industry experience, WSA Construction + Planning combines the robust capabilities and expertise of a large firm with the agility, personalised attention, and innovative spirit of specialised experts. Led by Aloysius Wahyu Surya Agung, the CEO, Augustine Sally Saputra, the CSFO, Andreas Bagas Yudanto, the CPO, and Bernadeth Ingelia Saputra, the CMOO, the company meticulously integrates advanced construction management throughout its projects—an exceptional level of integration rarely seen in firms of its size.
The Indonesian construction industry has long been dominated by two types of firms: large corporations focused solely on major developments and small boutique firms handling more specialised projects. This divide created a significant gap, as no firm effectively combined technical excellence with personalised service.
What inspired the establishment of WSA Construction + Planning?
Our vision emerged from collective experiences across various industry roles. As practitioners and clients ourselves, we witnessed the disconnect between aspirations and market realities.
Our approach refused the standard industry compromise. Rather than forcing clients to choose between scale and personalized service, we engineered a model delivering both. We structured our construction division to be larger than our planning team, enabling meaningful partnerships with Indonesia’s exceptional architects and designers whilst maintaining our deep understanding of diverse project challenges.
This balanced approach allows us to communicate effectively with all stakeholders whilst possessing the technical expertise to bring ambitious concepts to life without compromising integrity.
How did the company achieve success in such a short time?
One of the keys was vertical integration. By establishing our own steel workshop and manufacturing facilities, we gained control over project quality and timelines— oversight that doesn’t exist in traditional construction models.
We developed a specialised dual-team structure for remarkable flexibility. One team crafts intricate, detail-oriented projects where precision is paramount, whilst another excels in managing large- scale developments requiring extensive coordination. Both share expertise, creating an adaptive organization.
Most transformative has been our technology-driven project management. In an industry known for opacity, we introduced daily reporting and real-time cost tracking that provide unprecedented transparency—fostering trust through accountability.
What further distinguishes us is our perfect record of 100% on-time project delivery. This reliability stems from our meticulous pre-construction planning where we identify potential bottlenecks before breaking ground. For our clients, particularly in commercial developments, this predictability creates substantial value by eliminating costly delays and ensuring faster returns on investment.
This approach has taken us from boutique projects to landmark developments like Taman Burung at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. We serve diverse clients including architects, designers, corporate entities, and discerning private clients, maintaining healthy margins for business sustainability and team welfare whilst delivering fair value for all project partners.
What were the biggest challenges in the first five years, and how did you overcome them?
Our early challenges centered on redefining industry standards after our CEO returned from Canada with fresh global perspectives. The contrast between international practices and local conventions revealed key issues needing attention. First, we needed to transform entrenched mindsets about efficiency. The prevailing attitude that “clients will cover all costs” had to evolve into strategic resource optimization— not simply cutting expenses, but respecting client’s investments. We addressed this through sophisticated planning systems that reduce waste whilst preserving project integrity.
Developing a skilled workforce aligned with our vision was equally challenging. Whilst Indonesia has exceptional talent, the specific skillsets we required needed cultivation. Through targeted training and technical partnerships, we’ve built a team committed to serving our clients with precision and ethical practice.
Our most demanding challenge was establishing credibility in a market accustomed to traditional methods. We boldly introduced daily agile construction management— practices previously unseen in Indonesia that now distinguish us in the industry.
Why should clients choose WSA Construction + Planning?
What distinguishes WSA is our integration of technical innovation with genuinely professional client-centric processes. We’ve reimagined project relationships through our transparency system—a fundamental shift from industry norms.
Unlike others who provide updates weekly or monthly—often after problems affect timelines or budgets—our real-time monitoring and daily reporting identifies and addresses challenges within 24 hours. This eliminates the surprises typically plaguing construction projects and therefore builds lasting trust.
We’ve also maintained a selective client engagement model. Rather than maximizing volume at the expense of quality, we deliberately limit our project roster to ensure each projects receives complete dedication. We believe successful partnerships benefit all parties equitably, creating foundations for lasting relationships.
What are your long-term aspirations for the company?
Our vision transcends conventional growth metrics. We aim to transform how construction and planning integration are perceived within Indonesia’s built environment.
Investing in people is central to this vision. We’re creating career pathways that develop skilled workers into professionals with genuine growth trajectories—ensuring we maintain the exceptional standards that define our work.
Perhaps closest to our heart are our conservation projects at Taman Burung and Museum Komodo at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah which have deepened our understanding of construction’s environmental impact. We’re innovating to minimize waste whilst maintaining design excellence.
We envision WSA as a catalyst for industry transformation, proving that precision, vision, and ethics can coexist profitably. By balancing healthy margins with fair client value, we’re building sustainability into every aspect—for our projects, our people, and our environment.
