What’s the most common request from your clients (during and post pandemic)?
During the pandemic and in post pandemic requests were similar. The most common was an isolation room separated from the household, to be used as a quarantine post for anyone in the household who is sick.
The second request was a bathroom outside the residence (in the basement or similar) so people can take a shower before entering their home. Also having a sink outside, at the entrance of the residence, and a place to park delivered goods before they enter the house.
A home office was another common request as most people have been working from home, other than cross-ventilation with plenty of fresh air. There was also a need for outdoor activities so spaces like rooftop gardens.
What can we expect from the future and from the next interior design trends?
I would say all homes will have a foyer where shoes and parcels can be parked before entering the home. Having video conferencing facilities at home will be very common in the future and plenty of big windows with fresh air/ventilation.
How do you anticipate these trends?
The house layout will change as the kitchen/ pantry will move toward the front of the house instead of the typical location at the back. A foyer in a residence will be crucial, as well as the inclusion of an extra multi-functional room in the basement, or separate from the main house, to be used for isolation, an office or gym. Smart home technology will be incorporated for convenience to control lights, AC, cameras etc, and there will be doors which can open and lock remotely. using voice commands is the new smart home. As mentioned before there will be home offices and larger windows for cross ventilation.
