Interior & Furniture Designer
What are the most common requests from clients during the pandemic?
Most client requests regarding interior design (includes furniture products) were for efficient designs with a touch of personal style.
‘Efficient’ here is practical and easy maintenance: if possible, ‘do it yourself’. Being efficient is not directly proportional to the price of the product, because easy-to-maintain products can also be high-end interior products. These products include textile furnishings for sofas, chairs, bedding and curtains, as well as wall coverings like wallpaper, wall panels and wall paint.
‘Do it yourself’ happened throughout the pandemic for example to minimise contact with other people. It makes people healthier (because the body is forced to move).
‘Personal style’ is that more and more clients are choosing retail products (with all the efficiency advantages that come with it) but requesting customisation because they want a different colour theme more suited to their personal tastes.
How will you respond to these market trends?
I will anticipate future trends by providing a choice of products of better quality and which are more technically accountable to support the customer desire for efficiency. Then marketing campaigns to brand it optimally. For example, use social media to be more targeted, and of course, provide more choices of colours and materials to make it easier for clients to choose what suits their personal tastes.
One other thing, that is no less important, is to present a touch of uniqueness or ‘different’ from products made by other designers or even international brand products.
