What are the trends for design interiors: now and in the future?

For commercial projects such as corporate office, the trend is now to work agile or hybrid.

What is hybrid working?

Hybrid work is a flexible working model where employees work partly in the physical workplace and partly remotely – at home or from another workspace. one study has shown that some companies (58%) have already been hybrid working during Covid-19 and post pandemic

Do we still need offices?

People mostly come to the office for teamwork and for collaboration or meetings with clients, customers, partners and others.

What will hybrid work mean for offices?

Sufficient and efficient space at the office will need to consider the following factors.

open office concepts with typical workstations (one-type fits all), non- designated desks, less enclosed offices (or none at all). Any enclosed offices will function as meeting rooms or flex rooms for when the user is not at the office. Break out spaces will also function as work café (more like a co-working space). There will be dedicated lockers for all staff and more collaboration areas to enable teamwork as well more meeting and discussion rooms for virtual meetings, also more phone booths or focus pods.

What are the upcoming trends in office design?

We like to describe the new office concept as “resimercial”: a mix of residential and commercial design, so that the office feels homey, friendly. This is seen in the following: more greenery and planters (or biophilic design); natural light surrounding most of the office; adding colours through graphics or mural to brighten the space; and using local furniture and accessories to support the local economy.

Anything else?

Technology! Such as using booking systems and apps for desk and meeting rooms; digital walls; green rooms or studios for social media content like talk shows; monitor walls for control rooms to monitor workers at the office and remote for KPIs; touchless equipment and fixtures; and face recognition for access, security and tracking.
