Those who are longing for authentic and healthy homemade cooking, prepared with love, would be pleased to know that they can find all this and so much more at Jakarta’s newest ‘warung’ (tavern) called Warung Turki by Turkuaz. Food lovers who are familiar with Turkuaz restaurant and its outstanding Turkish cuisine created byOwner and Head Chef Sezai Zorlu, can now enjoy signature dishes such as rolled kebabs and Pide (traditional Turkish thin bread topped with your own choice) at his newest eatery: Warung Turki by Turkuaz, the only restaurant in Asia that cooks only with wood fired oven and wood charcoal grill!
When visiting this establishment, diners are greeted by a painting of Chef Sezai Zorlu's mother at the entrance giving the warm green and turquoise coloured ambiance of the downstairs’ restaurant a homely feeling. The big wood-fired oven that shows how fresh the food is made, from the oven to the tables in 45 seconds, serves as the centrepiece of the room. Wooden tables and chairs combined with bamboo ceilings embalm the 'warung' atmosphere while the Turkish imported ingredients and family recipes will definitely water your taste buds.
The restaurant is open daily from noon to midnight while on Fridays and Saturdays customers can enjoy 'tapas' or 'mezze' (selection of small dishes) and 'shisha' (water-pipes) under a glass ceiling on the 3rd floor long until the wee hours of the night. A combination of Nada Lahlou’s charmingly designed interior that captures the Chef's village beautifully consisting of imported Turkish Tupperware and a simple allure, with the pampering of trained staff bringing out delightful affordable dishes, will surely ensure guests to leave the venue with a satisfied feeling overall.
