Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) offers a plethora of food and entertainment options, but insiders are increasingly drawn to their neighbourhood gem: Central Market. Developed by Agung Sedayu Group (ASG), this hub epitomises eco-living, blending nature with community in a seaside-inspired setting that captures the essence of summer year-round.

L ocated in Golf Island PIK, Central Market is a one-stop shopping and lifestyle centre designed with Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principles. From the street view, its architecture emphasises modern design with rigid forms, complemented by the arrangement of terracotta bricks and tropical plants that evoke a seaside city vibe. Upon entering the drop-off area, visitors encounter a reflecting pool that enhances the aesthetic appeal and helps to cool the entrance area.
The entrance, a frequent highlight, boasts a dynamic atmosphere with ever-changing festive décor curated by Amantara of Agung Sedayu Group (ASG), perfect for social media. Inside, an atrium with ample vertical space enhances the airy feel, complemented by an amphitheatre-style setting adorned with natural finishes like wood, iron, terrazzo, and terracotta.
Central Market PIK is located near beaches and faces west, yet it remains pleasantly cool and breezy, ideal for enjoying various activities. Designers and architects would quickly notice the biophilic design efforts evident in the layout, natural lighting, cross ventilation, and panel configuration. The façade features a well-designed arrangement of wall panels and ventilations that facilitate air circulation without compromising on weather protection, allowing visitors to enjoy the atrium on both sunny and rainy days. The top of the atrium is covered with specific dark glass panels that shield the space from excessive heat whilst still allowing optimal sunlight. There is also a large, slim fan that enhances air circulation within the void area.
The building’s open front and back sides facilitate cross ventilation, fostering a refreshing atmosphere complemented by swaying plants outside and an edible garden with biopores, plus the Hyde Park dog pool and lawn on the rooftop.
Central Market PIK not only caters to shopping and entertainment but also embodies a green lifestyle. The efforts ASG has made have saved up to 51 per cent in energy, 44 per cent in embodied energy of building materials, and reduced water usage by 23 per cent. These efforts have earned it the title of the first Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiency (EDGE) Advanced Preliminary certified retail building in Indonesia.
Executive director of Green Building Council Indonesia, Tito Aribowo, emphasised, “Certifying buildings with standards like EDGE ensures projects are economically beneficial and environmentally responsible, crucial in global climate change efforts.”
Farida Lasida Adji, East Asia Regional Lead of the Green Buildings and Green Cities Program at IFC’s Climate Business Department, added, “Through EDGE certification, IFC provides a solution that emphasises the benefits of green buildings whilst safeguarding the environment. By designing buildings with greater resource efficiency, EDGE can help Indonesia achieve its ambitious targets for a low-carbon future and progress towards net-zero emissions by 2060.”
More than a mall, Central Market PIK integrates convenience with nature, housing supermarkets, wellness centres, and diverse culinary options. It embraces pet owners with pet-friendly facilities, welcoming dogs on leisurely walks or in strollers.
