“Envisioning Nature” is the theme of Bintaro Design District (BDD) 2023. Architecture studio Atelier Riri, helmed by Novriansyah Yakub (Riri), is responding to the theme with not just one, but four installations! All of these installations are located at and near their studio in Bintaro, Tangerang Selatan.
Atelier Riri interpreted the theme as creating impact for the future by making use vacant lots in the surrounding, which in this case, unused public lots around their studio. Visiting the venue, you’ll first see the Hologram, which is a modification of last year’s installation ‘More or Less’, located right across their office. Now it’s added with a pop-up café that serves coffee, tea, porridge and chicken noodle under the highest point of the ramp.
Another modified old installation is located a few blocks behind the office. Holograph is a 2,4 x 2,4 x 2,4 structure where anyone can sit, relax and hangout in, around, and on it. Roots&co. painted the mural on the installation as well as on the floor of a basketball field next to it.
A new installation at the front yard of Atelier Riri’s studio is called the Holo Flo, which is designed with Fibonacci rule. It’s a collaboration with Kohler, featuring the rain shower from their Statement Collection.
The other new and the main installation is Holo Morph, which is a studio intervention. A corridor-like structure starting at the entrance continues inside where models of Atelier Riri’s past works are exhibited.
“We believe that our mission in responding to the BDD’s theme is how we re-realise the lost interaction between human and their environment, and we hope it will better the quality of life, for now and tomorrow,” explains Riri.
Come and visit HOLO by Atelier Riri. It’s their third time joining Bintaro Design District, after winning Best Installation in the previous two, and like usual they are showcasing an unparalleled creativity to explore the limitless boundaries of design and innovation.
