The Indonesian Creative Economy Agency (BEKRAF), in collaboration with Recording Industry Association of Indonesia (ASIRI), participated in Marche International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale (MIDEM) on 5-8 June 2018 in Cannes, France. It is an international music exhibition in a B2B (business to business) format that brings together music labels, publishers, distributors, producers, technology companies, music promoters, film-makers, game developers and animators – basically, industries that greatly involve music. BEKRAF aimed to introduce Indonesian music through the pavilion, speed meeting, discussion panel, and promotion on a mega billboard in Cannes.
Design-wise, the pavilion was adorned with an element that symbolised the ocean waves, as Indonesia is a country consisted of 70 per cent body of water. One of the Indonesian participants was Anymo Guitar, a Bandung-based guitar manufacturer known for the very thin guitar body.
By taking part in the exhibition, BEKRAF hopes that Indonesia will gain various opportunities in the international music scene, namely through collaborations and investment.
