For over 95 years, La-Z-Boy has been committed to crafting products that exceed the industry standards for quality and safety, while being incredibly comfortable. For the La-Z-Boy showroom in the Galleria Grand Hyatt Jakarta in Plaza Indonesia, Prasetio Budhi, the founder of PlusDesign and one of Indonesia’s acclaimed interior designers, created a contemporary with a masculine edge.
Prasetio Budhi, or known as Pras has worked on many residential and commercial projects; some of which have been published in global design books as well as his own book. This showroom combines modern and classic elements. Designing a space for a premium shopping mall like Plaza Indonesia, suits Pras’ background. While studying at the Academy of Arts University in San Francisco, he gained much knowledge of American design.
“American style is what describes my work, I like clean and simple, yet comfortable, like being at home.” says Pras. “I wanted to create a masculine atmosphere yet luxurious. Like the comfortable and relaxed feeling when you sit on a La-Z-Boy recliner, the moment you enter the showroom, you feel like you were being absorbed by its welcoming surroundings, like arriving at your own home,” Pras elaborates his design concept.
Pras’ curations of the showroom interior materials and the brand’s statement furniture pieces, supported by ambiance lighting from Hadi Komara & Associates lighting consultant, established a sense of understated luxury. When customers come to La-Z-Boy showroom, they have to feel the sense of thoughtfulness that has gone into the space. I hope they will appreciate the products more and the space they entered,” he concludes.
Known for producing the first recliner, La-Z-Boy has offered comfort, style, and innovation to living spaces since 1927. This American heritage company was established by two cousins in Michigan, USA. And the legacy continues to today with thousands of dedicated employees and distributors around the world. La-Z-Boy, offers an updated collection of recliners, sofas, pedestal chairs, and home theatre seats.
Melandas has carried the La-Z-Boy brand since 1999. And with the new showroom looks, the company wants to re-introduce the brand’s image. “We like to familiarize La-Z-Boy to the younger generations, especially the brand carries many features that no other recliner can offer,” pointed Diana Lim, director of Melandas.
