Headquartered in Beijing, MAD Architects has revealed the design of a residential tower in Colorado. The 16-storey building, located in the River North in central Denver unveils a canyon cutting through its form, a nod to Colorado’s dramatic topography to echo the experience of climbing mountainous terrain.
The glass exterior’s most striking feature is the cavity of a “landscape rift” as the project team calls it, inspired by Colorado’s diverse biomes and a nature trail that spans 10 storeys with house planted terraces and water features. This unparalleled experience increases resident views and harmonises nature into the urban jungle - a concept that the Chinese design studio is renowned for. This canyon forms part of 1,200 sqm of outdoor amenity space to be enjoyed by residents of the 187 units.
A 632 sqm rooftop terrace, featuring a pool, spa and garden framed by dramatic Rocky Mountain views will include a 742 sqm retail space. One, two and three-bedroom units will benefit from floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies.
One River North anchors a new wave of taller buildings shaping a bold new vision for Denver’s art-influenced RiNo district. Work commenced in 2021 and it is due to complete towards the end of 2023, with Denver-based Davis Partnership Architects serving as the executive architect.
