What was the brief when designing the Ligne Roset showroom?
When tasked with designing the Ligne Roset showroom, the directive was straightforward: create a space befitting this renowned Parisian brand. My role was to transform a bare floor into the beautiful showroom you see today. During the design process, my team and I thoroughly researched Ligne Roset showrooms in various cities worldwide.
Initially, I had a rough idea of what the showroom should look like and began designing. However, the owners invited me to visit Ligne Roset’s showroom in Paris, where I experienced the products firsthand and met the brand’s team. This experience allowed me to fully embrace the brand’s spirit and solidify my concept.
The Ligne Roset showroom in Jakarta has its own character. Can you elaborate?
Upon entering the showroom, visitors are greeted with a modern, contemporary atmosphere. The design is fluid, warm, and inviting, encouraging movement throughout the space. We carefully selected materials that are not futuristic but, rather, aim for timeless elegance.
The colour palette consists of light earth tones, with display lighting that highlights the furniture without overpowering it. My primary goal in designing this showroom was to create a space where customers feel welcome and eager to explore the products.
Your designs complement the products beautifully. As a designer, what stands out to you about Ligne Roset?
Ligne Roset’s designs strike me as youthful, modern, and organically appealing. Their sofas, for instance, practically invite you to sit down. The brand is known for meticulously crafting furniture that is ergonomically comfortable and boasts pop colours that evoke joy. Therefore, the showroom’s design needed to harmonise with these elements, creating a backdrop that enhances the display.
The ambiance lighting here is remarkable. Can you tell us more about it?
Ambiance lighting plays a crucial role in a showroom design. I collaborated closely with a lighting designer, whose expertise was invaluable to encourage visitors to linger. They understand how to highlight the products effectively whilst also considering energy efficiency.
The showroom exudes a pleasant feel. Can you elaborate?
The immersion of delightful Ligne Roset’s products, the charming interior, and the proper lighting say it all. But the most important thing, your believe in the brands and the company that carries Ligne Roset.
