1st prize: RemX by Lani Adeoye from Nigeria. It’s a walker made of natural materials. Lani was inspired by her grandfather who was embarrassed when having to use medical aids that look very clinical. But this one is not only stylish, it conveys a sense of dignity, and it is pleasant to use and sustainable.

2nd prize: Lamps by Belgium-based Studio Gilles Werbrouck collaborating with Hugues Loinard. The lampshade emerges delicately from the jesmonite base, revealing the aesthetic of the VHS crochet work through which the light is filtered.

3rd prize: Meenghe by Serbian designer Djurdja Garcevic. It’s a solution to excessive car tire waste, where tires are recycled and turned into various furniture like stools, planters, litter bins, etc, with style.

1st special mention: Ease Chair by Finnish designer Rasmus Palmgren. The jurors saw it as a balance point between material, comfort and looks. It’s also stackable and ready for production.

2nd special mention: Munich-based Italian designer Atelier Ferraro. The +1.5 project uses discarded particle boards from furniture waste to create a chameleon of a furnishing, morphing from a lounge chair to a coffee table and other forms.
