Nestled on the top floor of The Trans Luxury Hotel, the beautiful dancing glow of Bandung’s city lights welcome patrons from the very first step at this impressive venue. Sporting a magnificent open terrace The 18th has become one of the city’s sanctuaries for foodies, travellers, and urban lifestyle seekers alike. Wide selections of signature cocktails, fine wines, premium cut steaks, and elegant seating are just the recipe to make this venue a must for a great night out! The captivating interior flush with golds, browns, and warm light create a mood of luxury without excess. Transparent glass becomes the divide between indoor and al fresco dining, thus all patrons seated inside the resto can be captivated by the view while enjoying their meal experience. At the outdoor terrace, guests have an unparalleled experience of balmy mountain breeze, the humdrum of the city below and the bustle of this busy venue. An iconic Skywalk bridge makes for a full adrenaline rush as you glare through the glass panelled floor at the passing traffic below.

In the kitchen, not far from the exuberance of this swish venue, I am greeted with the clamber of pans, jumping flames and the tempo of expectation, as Chef Marco Medaglia and his capable assistant Chef Lukman Hakim are busy creating the nights tantalizing dishes. New to Bandung, this dynamic duo are creating somewhat of a culinary revolution at The 18th.

With experience hailing from iconic hotels and restaurant such as Palazzo Versace in Dubai, Shangri-la Hong Kong, Vincenti Los Angeles, Hotel Eden Roma, Fujiya Hotels Japan, and Armani Hotels and Resort Dubai, Marco and Lukman bring with them an abundance of worldly culinary techniques and innovations.

“We are excited to be sharing in Bandung’s culinary revolution and bringing a new twist to local recipes and ingredients” says Chef Lukman when I asked “What brings such vibrant passion to your kitchen?”

I learn that US Prime Tomahawk is tonight’s special as Chef Marco goes on to tell me that premium meat cuts and wine pairing are highly sought after by Bandung’s growing domestic and international tourist base. It’s clear to see that both Chef Marco and Chef Lukman embrace an enthusiasm for fine food at this lifestyle venue.

I had a truly exceptional dining experience at The 18th, the service was brisk, the atmosphere was sophisticated, the view breathtaking, and the palate was stimulated beyond expectation. The 18th Restaurant and Lounge is definitely worth a visit on your next trip to Bandung for a truly memorable evening.
