The Embassy of Bulgaria in Jakarta recently brought a touch of European elegance to the heart of Indonesia with an exclusive Bulgarian wine-tasting event hosted at Opulent Living. Under the gracious leadership of H.E. Tanya Dimitrova, PhD, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Indonesia, the evening gathered friends, designers, and distinguished guests for an immersive journey into Bulgaria’s centuries-old winemaking heritage.

Bulgaria is one of Europe’s oldest wine-producing regions, with grape cultivation and winemaking traditions that stretch back to the ancient Thracians. Archaeological findings show evidence of Bulgarian winemaking as early as 4000 B.C. At the event, guests had the unique privilege of receiving firsthand insights from Ambassador Dimitrova herself. With warmth and expertise, she shared stories about Bulgaria’s diverse wine regions, native grape varieties, and the artistry behind each bottle. The ambassador was also accompanied by the Bulgarian Trade Commissioner (Head of Trade and Economic Office) in Indonesia, Daniel Dobrev.

Guests were treated to a selection of fine Bulgarian wines, each offering its own expression of character—from rich and full-bodied reds to crisp, aromatic whites. The evening concluded with a sense of discovery and appreciation. It was a celebration of culture, tradition, and the timeless joy of sharing good wine among friends.
