The incredible family-run brand, Rocco Forte Hotels, graces major European destinations with its homey yet luxurious array of beautifully-designed hotels. As the only branch in Belgium, Hotel Amigo sits right in the heart of the country’s cultural centre and bears all the characteristics of a Rocco Forte Hotel: sophisticated, elegant and artistic.
Situated right by the Grand Place is the Amigo, a building that used to belong to the city. In 1957, it was turned into a hotel by the Blaton family to accommodate visitors of the 1958 World Fair. In the year 2000, the hotel was acquired by Rocco Forte and has undergone a complete renovation ever since, restoring the building to its former glory and is now one of the Leading Hotels of the World. The renovation was led by the brand’s Deputy Chairman and Director of Design, Olga Polizzi.
The new Hotel Amigo is the perfect mix of modern and traditional styles, using contemporary furniture with a warm colour palette, and walls adorned with art by Rene Magritte and Marcel Broodthaers. To pay homage to Brussels, the lobby was decorated with Flemish tapestries from the 18th century, and famous Belgian characters Tintin, Snowy the Dog and Captain Haddock can be seen all over the refurbished bathrooms.
Hotel Amigo has 154 bedrooms and 19 suites, ranging from a classic and deluxe room to the executive and two signature suites. One of the signature suites is the Rene Magritte suite named after the famous artist himself. The room is embellished with bright colours known to be used by the artist, and his works can be seen throughout the room. The largest suite in the hotel is the Armand Blaton suite, named after the hotel’s original founder. Spanning 180 sqm, the suite has a stunning garden terrace, a fireplace in the spacious living room and a private kitchen, perfect for a family.
To entertain guests, the hotel has Bar A, a cosy, intimate venue to listen to live jazz and enjoy cocktails, and BoCConi, an elegant restaurant offering an authentic taste of Italy. More amenities include a gym, a ballroom for up to 250 guests, five meeting rooms and a business centre. For guests looking to relax, an in-room beauty and massage treatment is available upon request.
Hotel Amigo is the epitome of what a boutique, five-star hotel should be. A stylish, contemporary place where guests can feel at home, and the touch of Belgian history and art all over the hotel is an incredible element that provides a one-of-a-kind experience.
