One of the most anticipated art exhibitions is here! Today, 30 June 2023 is the opening of ARTJOG 2023 with the theme Motif: Lamaran, meaning Motif/Motive: Proposal.
The exhibition is co-curated by curator and writer Hendro Wiyanto (based in Jakarta) and established artist Nadiah Bamadhaj (born in Malaysia and based in Yogyakarta). Motif wishes to combine the ideas of a pattern of working of artists and ask them to reveal the intent and motivation behind their works. Lamaran is a methodology used by the curatorial team in approaching and drawing out the motivation and art practices through contact, discussions, and friendship with artists.
ARTJOG 2023 will house one commission artist, a wide selection of invited artists, an open call for young artists under 35 years old, and an open call for children from the ages of six to fifteen years old. It will also hold events such as curatorial tours, meeting featured artists, stage performances, book launches, workshops, and events dedicated to children.
Following the success in the previous years, this year ARTJOG is going to take place at the Jogja National Museum in Yogyakarta. The event is running from 30 June-27 August 2023. For more information, head up to ARTJOG's official website: artjog.id.
