Which door are you going to open?

On Friday October 21*, ARTOTEL Thamrin - Jakarta will reveal the Universe Behind the Doors, a pop up art exhibition that highlights the creativity of emerging local artists in collaboration with celebrity power couples.

Grouped into five teams, the talents will treat five hotel rooms as blank canvases and decorate them with paintings and artworks to set a desired ambience. Each room will be hosted by a celebrity couple, who had picked their group of five or six artists in a draw two months prior. The celebrities are Leonard Theosabrata, founder of Indoestri creative space and his spouse Irene Yuliana; renowned singer Andien Aisyah and husband Ippe Wahyudi; chef couple of Union Brasserie and Union Deli, Adhika Maxi and Karen Carlotta; actress Dian Sastro and husband Maulana Indraguna; and Jakarta Fashion Week creative director Diaz Parzada and partner Wilsen Willim.

The idea of Universe Behind the Doors brewed from the minds of ARTOTEL Indonesia CEO Erastus Radjimin and founder of the art event organizer ARTDEPT, Amalia Wirjono. The exhibition will be one of ARTOTEL's many distinctly artistic events which echo ARTOTEL's identity as an art and hotel hybrid and its promise to offer a different, stylish experience to millennial travellers.

This time in particular, that promise is delivered through the unique concepts behind each room. Room 1 will see splashes of neon and pop art patterns with a low brow touch, to be executed by a team of street artists whose works feature eerie and iconic creatures.

The lineup of talents for the first room include names like Adi Dharma, Bayu Widodo, Muchlus Fachri , Uji Handioyo, and Muhammad Vilhamy.

Room 2 will also involve a play of colours, but with more crafty illustrious elements from Mapisha Soekarna, Aditya Pratama "Sarkodit", Kendra Ahimsa Deya Afrilia and Puji Lesatari Ciptaningrum.

Room 3 is the most muted with soft and cold tones from the works of Agung Prabowo, Yuki Agriyardi, Antonio Sinaga, Argya Dayaksa, Tara Astari Kasenda and Sekar Putri.

Room 4 will reflect the dependency of the current generation to technology and showcase witty and whimsical new media installations by Angki Purbandono, Nurrachmat Wedyasena, Secret Agent, Fluxcup and Faisal Yeroushalaim.

In contrast to its counterparts, room 5 will go back to the basics with a classic black and white theme under the hands of Bordan Jonggal, Rega Ayundya Putri, Labadiou Piko, Patriot Mukmin, Evelyn Pritt and Endira F. Julianda.

*Public viewing is October 22-23
