Endramukti Design presents a renewed interpretation of the modern dining room on board Opulent Living. The space is shaped not only as a place for meals but also as a heartfelt tribute to the spirit and rhythm of the Indonesian archipelago. Here, dining becomes an experience of presence. Guests are encouraged to linger, savour, and reconnect, reflecting the unhurried warmth and hospitality inherent in island culture. Every element, from materials to furnishings, is composed with the intention to evoke a sense of natural harmony.
At the centre of the room stands its defining ensemble: a luminous Italamp chandelier and the Maxalto Ares dining table presented by LAFLO. Sculptural yet quietly refined, the table offers a balance of elegance and comfort that anchors the entire composition. Surrounding it are the iconic Maruni Hiroshima chairs from MOIE Living, celebrated for their gentle curves, tactile wooden surfaces, and exceptional craftsmanship. Their simplicity echoes the organic landscapes of the archipelago, where smooth shorelines, warm natural timbers, and softened contours shape the character of the islands. Together, these elements transform the dining area into an intimate stage suitable for thoughtful daily rituals as well as festive evening gatherings.
Throughout the exhibition, the dining room effortlessly emerged as one of the most visited and admired spaces on board. Mornings often began with the warm scent of freshly baked cookies and expertly brewed artisanal coffee prepared using the Gaggenau Expressive Series. This simple ritual set the tone for a day of relaxed indulgence. As sunlight shifted across the deck, the dining area and its adjoining pantry evolved into a versatile venue for curated experiences. Speciality tea and coffee tastings, wine and whisky explorations, canapé presentations, and refined dinners were all hosted here. Each event reaffirmed the purpose of the room, which is to cultivate connection through the simple yet meaningful act of sharing food and drink.
Crafting Quiet Spaces Through Minimal Spatial Design
The dining area beside the sun deck is guided by a design approach that draws deeply from nature’s palette. Endramukti Design embraced warm wooden tones, clean lines, and restrained forms to achieve a minimalist aesthetic that still conveys a sense of luxury. Integrated Gaggenau appliances elevate this calm elegance. The pantry table features a sleek electric cooktop designed to appear almost invisible, its presence revealed only by a soft halo of light. This discreet functionality preserves the purity of the surfaces and reflects the overarching desire for sophistication without unnecessary adornment.
To introduce lightness, movement, and a touch of romance, thin fabric curtains were added between the structural poles. Their inspiration comes from Endramukti’s poetic vision of cloth moving in the sea breeze. Soft and rhythmic, the curtains evoke the quiet charm of island evenings. They respond gently to the natural wind, creating a fluidity that becomes especially captivating at dusk. As the sky softens and dinner begins, the curtains sway with cinematic grace, enriching both atmosphere and emotion.
The Quiet Beauty of Endramukti’s Vision
The entire composition is framed by the exquisite hand-painted wallcovering by de Gournay. Its artistry adds depth and cultural richness without overwhelming the room. Subtle yet expressive, it supports the natural theme while elevating the overall character of the space. Vintage Italian tableware completes the story with a final gesture of refinement, connecting heritage craftsmanship to the contemporary design narrative.
The result is a dining room that transcends function. It becomes a celebration of gathering, of culture, and of the gentle rituals that bring people together. Thoughtfully curated and deeply rooted in the textures and spirit of the archipelago, Dining by the Archipelago demonstrates how design, when guided by sensitivity and purpose, can create experiences that linger far beyond the final course.
