For Indonesia Design Week, Domisilium Studio, the leading interior design firm renowned for its innovative approach and meticulous attention to detail, collaborates with Singres Mosaic, the name for the ultimate solution for high-quality mosaics and tiles, known for its elegant and durable design, presenting Tropical Mirage as an installation. Talking with Santi Alaysius and Hamphrey Tedja, Indonesia Design gets the idea of what kind of installation these creative minds have in store.

Tropical Mirage is an immersive installation that reimagines the brand’s luxury design with a breezy and fun twist. “The installation itself is set around the two reflecting pools near the Singres Mosaic’s showroom,” opened Santi in our conversation. Hamphrey further explains that the casual space exudes the pleasure of a beach club in the centre of the city, “hence the idea of a tropical mirage,” he said. In this installation, visitors can see the beautiful, colourful mosaic tiles transform the lounge chairs, bar counters, and walkways with seldom-experienced tactile encounters.

The idea of Tropical Mirage was inspired by summer beach vacations. It will surely reveal Singres Mosaic’s lighter and more youthful side, its ability and the quality of products, and most importantly, demonstrate that quality materials can also be warm, joyful, and effortlessly inviting.

On the other hand, the furniture displayed was designed by DMDIO, a sister company of the Domisilium Studio. DMDIO is focused on product and exhibition designs and is full of creative minds, amused by the potential of new materials, shapes, and concepts. The company has designed the products for renowned brands, such as BIKA, Lumikasa, Materium, Nine Squares, Arbor & Troy, and many more.

“This installation, the Tropical Mirage, will be a shock in your eyes kind of thing, bursting with candy-coloured embellishments in the middle of more demure-coloured buildings,” Santi discloses with a laugh. “It’s fun and inviting, yet surrounded by iconic silhouettes, it exudes the subtle elegance feel that urges guests to calm down, roam barefoot, sip drinks, and soak their feet,” she elaborates. Meanwhile, Hamphrey added Santi’s statement with a question, “Who doesn’t want to be in an urban retreat that is less about exhibiting and more about relaxing?” A question that everybody will instantly agree to. Both Santi and Hamphrey end our short conversation with a warm smile, inviting us to visit this much-awaited installation.
