Indonesian Contemporary Art & Design (ICAD) is back with its 14th edition. Through the theme “UNEXPECTED”, it invites artists and designers to focus on the unexpected reality that happens in our daily life in the past, present, and the future. In the social, political, environmental and cultural context, the exhibition encourages the participants to dig deeper into their imagination, research and experiment, to finally present alternative points of view.
“The theme “UNEXPECTED” may sound like something off the plan or something that suddenly pops up in our life. But, actually, beyond that, unexpectedness strongly relates with our identity and how we choose to perceive our history. This exhibition explores diverse unexpected reality not because it doesn’t exist, but because it’s often overlooked or neglected,” says Amanda Ariawan and Prananda L. Malasan, the curators of ICAD 14.
It features the works of more than 65 artists, designers, multidisciplinary artists, collectives and communities in the forms of visual art, photography, graphic design, product design, architecture, textile, performing art, sound, music and culture.
