As a country with a rich cultural history, Uruguay has a lot of interesting topics to talk about. Through the “Panoramica” art exhibition, two Uruguayan artists exhibit their works that let us delve into their culture and the panorama of their beautiful country whilst exploring other themes as well. The exhibition is held in the National Gallery of Indonesia, presented by the Embassy of Uruguay in Indonesia in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.

Inaugurated by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Fadli Zon and the Ambassador of Uruguay to Indonesia Cristina Gonzalez on 4 June 2026, the exhibition is open for public viewing from 5 June until 28 June 2026. “Through art, we can foster dialogue that transcends geographical and linguistic boundaries. Panoramica embodies the spirit of Uruguay while also highlighting universal values that resonate closely with Indonesian culture, such as the relationship between people and nature, tradition, and identity,” said Ambassador Cristina Gonzalez at the inauguration.

'Panoramica' is a Spanish word that means a broad view. According to the exhibition curators, Alam Wisesha and Karamina Puspitasarri, the title serves as a way of understanding Uruguay through a sequence of experiences, atmospheres, and encounters that gradually create a sense of closeness. The two artists brought together in the exhibition are photographer Luis Fabini (b. 1965) and painter Manuel Rodriguez (b. 1980), who offer distinct perspectives on landscape and the relationship between humanity and nature.

Through his photographic series, Luis Fabini documents the lives of the gauchos, the iconic South American horse riders and cattle herders whose existence is rooted in the tranquillity and rhythms of rural life. As cowboys in the North America, gauchos symbolise courage, resilience, and a fierce independence.

Manuel Rodriquez’s series Infinite Dawn displays his watercolour paintings that capture landscapes as a space in constant motion, transformation, and emotional resonance. Through delicate, almost ethereal watercolour strokes, he presents panoramic vistas as tranquil, reflective, contemplative, and at times evocative spaces.

In addition to the showcase, Panoramica includes public programmes such as the Public Forum with Manuel Rodriguez and Uruguayan film screenings. For more information about these activities and the exhibition, check Instagram accounts @uruguayinindonesia and @galerinasional.
