Indonesia’s design and creative industry is steadily and confidently carving out its place on the global stage, with its participation in Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026 is marking a proud and defining milestone. This moment is not only a celebration of talent and craftsmanship but also a reflection of how far the nation’s creative ecosystem has evolved into a dynamic force ready to engage and compete internationally. The visit of the Indonesian Ambassador to Italy, Prof. Dr. Junimart Girsang, sends a strong and meaningful signal of the government’s support for a sector now boldly expanding beyond national borders.

The House of Indonesia, also known as the IDD Pavilion, has become a vibrant centre of attention throughout the exhibition, attracting interest from global audiences, industry leaders and creative communities alike. This enthusiasm is reflected in the growing number of meeting requests, ranging from Indonesian experts based in Europe to promising B2B engagements that could open doors to future collaborations.

Among these exchanges are strategic discussions with Prof. Andreas from the University of Bologna, John Lubbe Baker of the Benelux Indonesia Association in Belgium, representatives of the Taiwanese Consulate General in Italy and Marva Griffin. One particularly exciting prospect is a potential collaboration to bring the SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection to Jakarta in September 2026.

Designed by Santi Alaysius of Domisilium Studio, the pavilion presents Indonesia’s distinctive design identity to the world—one shaped by cultural richness, thoughtful concepts and a strong commitment to quality execution. As aptly expressed by Alvin Tjitrowirjo, this participation represents a golden opportunity for Indonesian design.

Indonesia’s presence at the world’s largest furniture and design exhibition is the result of a powerful collaboration between the Ministry of Creative Economy, the Ministry of Trade, the Indonesia Design Development Centre (IDDC), ITPC Milan and the Indonesian Embassy in Rome.

More than simply participating, Indonesia is making a statement of transformation. The country is no longer positioned merely as a market but as an emerging and respected player contributing meaningfully to material innovation, design thinking and the future direction of global interior architecture.
