Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) invites global communities to celebrate collective works in the design and lifestyle industry at Indonesia Design District in PIK2.
Tiny birds slowly sway around a hanging dome of flowers as dusk brings about windy gusts. Ripples on the mirror pools nearby lend movement to the silvery figure diving headlong. Wooden benches by Alvin T beckon visitors to sit for a spell, enjoying the LV Dome by Kezia Karin and statues by Timboel Gallery at the Thamrin Lobby of Indonesia Design District (IDD) in PIK2. Lighted window displays lining the vast expanse of IDD showcase various goods and services, from home living products to materials and designs, artworks, and many more. Airy corridors and lush landscapes between the stores, an overall joint architectural project between Singapore-based DP Architect and local industry leader Seniman Ruang, further elevates the atmosphere.
Each luxurious standalone store at IDD is a collaborative work between global creative industry players, especially Indonesian industry leaders such as Andra Matin for Kayu Lapis, Yori Antar for Viro World, and many others. While strolling the 200 brands around the 12-hectare retail compound, visitors can cross through the Mandapa Lobby and its outdoor exhibition space into the seamlessly connected Erajaya Digital Complex (EDC). More experiential standalone stores here display various technology, IoT, gadgets, and electronics from big global brands. Moreover, in this lobby, The Material Lab with GIOI is a concierge and a meeting spot where brands can display their material samples. Here, visitors can meet and discuss their ideal homes over coffee and cakes with tenants, architects, and interior designers.
The Director of IDD, Soesilawati, said: “IDD and EDC present a one-stop creative lifestyle destination for residents and visitors, offering a wide range of home-living items, building materials, electronics, and lifestyle brands under one roof.”
Right next to it is the Townhall, a multi-function hall measuring 1,296sqm perfect for events by related tenants and various communities, starting from Oktoberfest PIK on September 22 and 23. As one of the official Oktoberfest events in Jakarta, it was a celebration of Bavarian culture with an authentic band straight from Germany, an all-you-can-eat authentic buffet, and free-flow German beers.
Another annual event at the PIK area taking place at the Townhall was the ASG Expo, taking place from October 5 to 15. This year’s annual event attracted a total of 11,000 visitors seeking to learn about the developer’s portfolio from PIK1 to PIK2, Sedayu City Kelapa Gading, District 8, Fatmawati City Center, Menara Jakarta at Kemayoran, and other locations around the Greater Jakarta area.
IDD then collaborated with Indonesian Contemporary Art & Design (ICAD) to present ICAD by the Bay from October 26 to November 19, an Indonesian-focused contemporary art and design exhibition curated by Amanda Ariawan. ICAD By the Bay highlights the growing local creative industry to the global market in North Jakarta, especially younger audiences and curators looking for affordable art.
Ipeng Widjojo, Business and Development Director of Agung Sedayu Group, said: “Agung Sedayu Group and Salim Group aim to build an ecosystem for the creative and lifestyle industry at IDD in PIK2. As such, IDD welcomes all creative and lifestyle industry players to combine forces into innovative designs and products.”
Right across from Townhall, IDD’s Markethall held the Wine and Cheese Expo from November 2 to 19. Starting at 3PM on weekdays and noon on weekends, the event featured fine wines thanks to the support of Dimatique; Kem Chicks provided tasty cheese choices with different accouterments to complete the pairing. From the end of November, with the coming festive season, IDD sets the stage for more colorful events perfect for families, such as Christmas tree lighting and marketplace.
With the wide range of tenants and various facilities, IDD completes the overall design for PIK2 as the best place to work, live, and play. “The IDD compound is part of the 120-hectare Urban Hub, an upcoming area in PIK2 with integrated facilities and destinations,” said Natalia Kusumo, CEO of Commercial & Hotels at Amantara-Agung Sedayu Group. “Moreover, Urban Hub is close to the upcoming PIK2 Toll Interchange, which will finish by 2024 and connect PIK2 to the Soekarno Hatta International Airport in seven minutes.”
