This year marks an important turning point as Indonesia takes its place at Salone. Alongside the debut of the Indonesia Design District Pavilion, three emerging Indonesian designers will participate in SaloneSatellite 2026: Zulyo Kumara, Cynthia Margareth, and Bali-based Studio Banda, founded by Cokorda Suryanata and Frans Sihombing. Their presence at SaloneSatellite 2026 further strengthens the growing international recognition of Indonesian design, showcasing its richness, diversity, and dynamic creative voice to a global audience.

Zulyo Kumara: Bringing the Human Touch Back to Design

Zulyo Kumara, an innovative designer based in Indonesia, draws deep inspiration from the potential of materials and follows a process-driven approach. Rooted in the philosophy of “bringing the human touch back to design," he emphasises thoughtful, integrated design solutions that seamlessly connect concept, craft, and context. By combining different cultural influences with creativity and design ideas, the work shows the depth of Indonesian values and traditions while still feeling modern and timeless.

Cynthia Margareth: Crafting Contours

Cynthia Margareth is an Indonesian designer whose work explores the delicate interplay between objects and spaces. Starting her career in furniture design, she has since evolved her practice through continuous experimentation and close collaboration with clients, artisans, and manufacturers.

Firmly rooted in Indonesia’s rich craft traditions yet attuned to a contemporary design language, Cynthia investigates proportion, material dialogue, and the human experience of space. Her presentation at Salone Satellite 2026, Crafting Contours, embodies an ongoing conversation between natural gestures, cultural memory, and modern form.

Studio Banda: Bridging Poetic Intent to the Final Form

Studio Banda is a Bali-based industrial design studio exploring the space between the reserved and the unexpected. Through material sensitivity and process-driven curiosity, the studio deconstructs industrial norms by recontextualising crafts and local fabrication techniques to envision new futures in material culture.

Founded by Cokorda Suryanata and Frans Sihombing, Studio Banda approaches design as an ongoing act of inquiry and translation. Each project aims to find ways where creative ideas connect with practical solutions, balancing artistic expression with clear technical details.
