Named after the lotus flower, Lián, a symbol of purity, harmony and enduring family bonds, Li Lian 丽莲 draws inspiration from the elegance of Cantonese heritage while embracing a contemporary sense of refinement.

The restaurant unfolds like a graceful residence in the sky. Guests are first welcomed by a striking staircase in the foyer, creating a quiet sense of anticipation before arriving at the elegant entrance. Beyond it, the space opens into a series of creativety curated settings.

A veranda frames expansive views of Jakarta’s skyline, while a dedicated tea parlour honours the rituals of Chinese tea culture. Two spacious living rooms encourage relaxed conversation, and six private dining rooms provide refined settings for intimate gatherings and celebrations.

Together, these spaces invite guests to linger, connect and savour the moment.

The Inviting Design

Designed by the renowned interior design studio, HBA Indonesia, Li Lian 丽莲 balances timeless Chinese sensibility with contemporary refinement. Dramatic floor to ceiling windows allow natural light to fill the space whilst presenting Jakarta’s skyline as a living backdrop.

Within the private dining rooms, the atmosphere becomes more intimate. Crimson chairs and lacquered shelves displaying porcelain vases evoke the elegance of traditional family homes. Above the circular dining table, the soft glow of a chandelier draws attention to the centre of Cantonese dining culture, where conversation, shared dishes and togetherness take precedence.

The result is an environment that feels both refined and welcoming, ideal for family gatherings, elegant social occasions and memorable celebrations.

The Chef and the Specialties

At the heart of Li Lian 丽莲 is Executive Chinese Chef Tan Kwang Aik, whose more than two decades of experience span celebrated restaurants in luxury hotels, including a Michelin starred dining room. His approach respects the traditions of Cantonese cuisine whilst allowing room for thoughtful reinterpretation.

Amongst the highlights is the signature Peking duck, expertly prepared by Duck Specialties Chef Victor. Roasted slowly over fragrant rambutan wood, the duck develops crisp skin with a subtle smokiness that enhances its natural flavour.

Other signature dishes include wok fried Wagyu beef tenderloin M8 with Yunnan trumpet mushrooms and asparagus in black pepper sauce, smoked marble goby glazed with caramelised soy, and poached tiger grouper fillet served in a light fish broth with pickled cabbage, tofu and chilli. Each dish reflects the balance, clarity and depth that define Cantonese cuisine.

Dim Sum Master Chef Huang adds a lively dimension to the experience with a signature dim sum platter that celebrates the joyful tradition of Cantonese all day dining. Each bite invites guests to slow down, share and enjoy the moment.

Nearby, the open kitchen clad in travertine and copper reveals the artistry behind the cuisine. Knives are arranged with quiet precision, flames rise beneath the woks, and rows of ducks slowly rotate above the wood fired oven, filling the air with an enticing aroma.
