In conjunction with the 5th anniversary of M Bloc, M Bloc Entertainment, with co-creator Evoria, will present a 10-day Evoria M Bloc Fest called Festival For the Next Big Things from 27 September until 6 October 2024. M Bloc Fest is an annual event that started as a music festival and grew to be a festival of creative industry. Aiming to support the growth of new talents, it will highlight music, art, design, film and fashion subcultures.
One of the main events will be M Bloc Design Week 2024 (MBDW2024), featuring 5 design fields: architecture, product design, fashion, graphic design, & interior design. More than 20 participants and collaborators will present their works with the theme of “Daur Rupa – Sustainable Design” in the forms of exhibition, workshops, talk show, and city walking tour. Most of the event will be located at the Creative Hall of M Bloc Space, while some programmes will be conducted simultaneously in Pos Bloc Medan, Pos Bloc Surabaya, Fabriek Bloc (Padang), JNM Bloc (Yogyakarta), Lokananta (Surakarta), and Uma Seminyak (Bali).
The main agenda of MBDW2024 are:
1. Design Exhibition. Featuring innovative designs that put forward sustainability. The participants and collaborators include Bell Living Lab, StudioRK, What if Lab (M Bloc Space), FT ITB and FTUI (Pos Bloc Jakarta), YYAF & Architecture of UAJY (JNM Bloc, Yogyakarta), INRARE (Lokananta, Surakarta), Studio Banda x Alex Ladda Architects (Uma Seminyak), and more.
2. Design Conference. An in-depth discussion about trends, challenges and the future of sustainable design with speakers Antonius Richard (founder and principal of RAD+ar), Realrich Sjarief (founder and principal of RAW Architect), Anton Siura (founder and principal of SIURA Studio) and Sibarani Sofian (founder of URBAN+)
3. Mata Talks. Inspiring talk shows featuring creative figures who will share their experiences in facing the environmental challenges through innovations and activations. “There are Kampungs in the Future” and “Repurpose Heritage Compound with Rumah Tangsi (Malaysia)” are to name a few of the themes.
4. Workshop. A variety of workshops where participants can learn directly from the experts on the application of sustainable design in diverse context.
5. Design Walks. Creative tour that will take participants to explore the corners of the city and introduce them to various creative initiatives.
