Opulent Lounge: A Reverie Between Art and Interior

Every interior carries a story, and this lounge unfolds like a modern fable of luxury. Conceived as a sanctuary of indulgence, it is a place where art, design, and atmosphere merge into a single narrative. It forms an intimate dialogue between past and present, between bold geometry and fluid sensuality. Here, opulence is shaped not by accumulation but by emotion. It is not about excess; it is about experience.

The design began with the belief that opulence should be experienced rather than displayed. It is not a showcase of abundance but an orchestration of mood, material, and meaning. The intention was to create a lounge that draws guests into its embrace, much like stepping onto a cinematic stage prepared for conversation, indulgence, and escape. It is a room not merely observed but inhabited with all the senses, where each texture and detail elevates awareness and enhances comfort.

Modern Art Deco enters this narrative as both inspiration and reinterpretation. The hypnotic hexagonal flooring recalls the bold geometry of its heritage, reimagined in deep contemporary tones of espresso, onyx, and bronze. The motif is not loud; it pulses gently. It anchors the space while guiding movement, encouraging visitors to drift from one seating arrangement to another.

Polished brass accents, sculptural orb lighting, and lacquered finishes enhance this modern expression of Deco glamour. Although the influence of the nineteen twenties is unmistakable, the luxury presented here feels forward-looking, layered, and deeply personal.

At the heart of the room, the wall covering becomes a natural focal point, bold yet quietly captivating. In a nearby corner, the Quor Console from Saniharto’s Quor Collection, designed by Hans himself, introduces its own graceful presence. It brings a refined sense of balance and artistry that gently draws the eye. Together, these elements create a thoughtful spatial composition enriched with Deco-inspired detailing, resulting in an atmosphere that is serene, layered, and effortlessly sophisticated.

The furniture selections act as characters within this unfolding narrative. The amber tufted sofa carries the grandeur of timeless elegance, while velvet loungers in plum and indigo introduce a playful rhythm that invites lingering conversations and intimate gatherings. Their rounded silhouettes soften the geometric lines of the room, forming a balance between structure and sensuality. A delicate glass and gold table glimmers like liquid light, counterbalancing the room’s visual weight and reinforcing the theme of geometry softened by shimmer.

Above, the chandelier becomes the crowning gesture. It is a constellation of glowing orbs suspended in dark brass, echoing both the celestial glamour of historic Deco ballrooms and the sultry intimacy of a contemporary lounge. Its light is warm, atmospheric, and cinematic. The lighting is composed with as much intention as the furnishings, sculpting shadow and warmth to create moments rather than simply illumination.

The material palette reads like a layered story. Velvet and leather introduce tactility and sensuality. Marble and lacquer provide dramatic sheen and timeless sophistication. Brass and copper offer warmth, radiance, and artistic punctuation. Each surface participates in the rhythm of the room, enriching its emotional dimension. Luxury here is dynamic; it is lived, felt, and remembered.

Textures and contrasts play an essential role. The softness of velvet against the coolness of marble, the gentle curves of the seating against the crisp geometric flooring, and the quiet shadows beside luminous brass all engage in a choreographed tension that energises the space. The room feels intimate yet grand, moody yet luminous, and disciplined yet indulgent.

Ultimately, this lounge is more than a room. It is a reverie of modern opulence, a place where every gesture contributes to an immersive whole. It affirms that luxury today is defined not only by what we see but by what we feel: the embrace of a welcoming seat, the glow of flattering light, and the invitation to slow down and savour the moment. It is a design that remains in memory long after the guest has departed, not because of what it contains but because of how it made them feel.
