What was the owner’s initial vision for Swissôtel Living Jakarta Mega Kuningan?
We envisioned Swissôtel Living Jakarta Mega Kuningan as a premium long-stay residence that elevates modern urban living with sophistication and comfort. Our goal was to create an elevated home-away-from-home experience by combining Swiss hospitality precision, Japanese craftsmanship, and the warmth of intuitive service. We designed a residence that meets the refined expectations of business executives, diplomats, and discerning travellers, embodying understated elegance, functional luxury, and thoughtfully designed living spaces. With a strong emphasis on seismic safety and superior craftsmanship, we ensured that Swissôtel Living Jakarta Mega Kuningan provides peace of mind, effortless comfort, and a deep sense of belonging in one of the city’s most dynamic districts.
How was the design process?
The design process was a collaboration between Swissôtel’s global brand team and Japanese developers. Every element was meticulously curated to strike a balance between sophistication and liveability. This ensures that each residence feels both inviting and impeccably designed. We carefully selected natural materials such as stone, wood and leather to bring warmth and authenticity to each space whilst ensuring durability and timeless appeal. The layout was thoughtfully planned to offer intuitive living solutions, abundant natural light, and smooth transitions between work, rest and leisure. Inspired by Japanese architectural principles, we incorporated clean lines, understated textures, and a natural flow to create a curated yet effortlessly sophisticated environment.
What were the challenges in completing the design of Swissôtel Living Jakarta Mega Kuningan?
Our biggest challenge was merging Swissôtel’s contemporary aesthetics with the meticulous craftsmanship of Japanese design to create a space that is both refined and liveable. We focused on:
Designing each residence to be intuitive and multifunctional, ensuring ample storage, versatile layouts, and smartly integrated amenities without compromising style.
Maintaining the highest quality standards, sustainability, and tactile experience for every material, from wood finishes to upholstery.
Addressing the city’s unique structural requirements by ensuring the residence is as safe as it is sophisticated, incorporating advanced engineering without sacrificing aesthetics.
What kind of ambience do you want guests to experience when they first enter Swissôtel Living Jakarta Mega Kuningan? And what about long-term residents?
We wanted the first impression to evoke effortless refinement and tranquillity. Upon entering, guests are welcomed by a curated blend of natural textures, soft lighting, and a warm yet polished atmosphere. Every detail is designed to strike a perfect balance between heritage and modernity, elegance and comfort, prestige and familiarity.
For long-term residents, we want Swissôtel Living Jakarta Mega Kuningan to feel like more than just a temporary residence. It should become a personal sanctuary. Thoughtful design elements, from personalised service to ergonomically designed furnishings, ensure that guests feel completely at ease, whether unwinding after a long day, entertaining visitors, or simply enjoying a quiet moment in a space that feels uniquely their own.
