Building materials company TACO has collaborated with MD Entertainment on Filosofi Teras, a family drama scheduled for release at the end of the year. Adapted from Henry Manampiring’s bestselling book, the film stars Sherina Munaf as Nea, an employee, and Ge Pamungkas as Dio, Nea’s partner and an architect.

The collaboration offers TACO an opportunity to explore the role materials can play in storytelling. TACO Flooring Vinyl and TACO Active Adhesive were used in the production to support the film’s spatial and visual needs. The materials were selected with each space’s character, atmosphere and visual concept in mind, helping to bring the story to the screen.

“For TACO, this collaboration is an opportunity to see materials from a broader perspective,” said Anastasia Tirtabudi, Chief Marketing Officer of PT Tangkas Cipta Optimal (TACO). “Materials do more than create a space; they can also become part of its creativity and story. Through our collaboration with MD Entertainment, we want to explore how materials can support the creative industries and open up new possibilities for their use.”

When Materials Become Part of the Storytelling

TACO’s materials were chosen to meet the visual needs of Filosofi Teras and the concepts behind its interiors, allowing them to sit naturally within the film’s overall visual world.

“Film is a creative work built through the collaboration of many elements and areas of expertise,” said Astrid Suryatenggara, Chief Communication Officer of MD Entertainment. “In working with TACO, we found a strong connection between its expertise in building materials and the needs of the story we wanted to tell in Filosofi Teras. TACO’s materials support the film’s spaces and visuals in a relevant way while respecting the creative concept we had established. Collaborations like this bring a fresh perspective and enrich the process of creating a film, down to its details.”

From the director’s perspective, spaces also help translate the story from page to screen. Each visual detail is designed to support the characters and atmosphere, with materials contributing to the film’s wider visual language.

“In Filosofi Teras, the home helps us portray Nea’s family life as it is, in a way that feels close to the audience’s everyday experience,” said director Affandi Abdul Rachman. “That makes material details important. They bring out the character, colour and texture that make a space feel personal and believable. Working with TACO gave us room to explore this more deeply, creating a set that presents the home as a place of comfort and healing.”

For TACO, the partnership extends its role beyond providing material solutions for homes and commercial spaces into the creative process of Indonesian filmmaking. As Filosofi Teras moves from book to screen, its settings do more than provide a backdrop: they help express the characters and emotions at the heart of the story.

The collaboration was announced during Indonesia Design Week (IDW) 2026, where TACO joined creative industry practitioners in celebrating creativity and innovation. Alongside its partnership with MD Entertainment, TACO presented other creative collaborations and interactive workshops for visitors, including TACO Tumbler Lab: Design Your Own TACO PVC Sheet Tumbler at the TACO Experience Center, IDD PIK 2.
