At ARCH:ID 2026, Viro introduces TenuNYamaN, an installation that signals a decisive shift in how prefab architecture is perceived in Indonesia. Marking the debut of ViroFab, Viro’s latest innovation in luxury modular system building construction, the project presents a built prototype of Virocroft, a 200sqm bungalow designed for up to two storeys. Realised in collaboration with Hafele, Grain & Green, Tritunggal Prima, Aica, Kohler, Indospace, Hubu, and Otazen, the installation moves beyond concept to demonstrate a fully inhabitable spatial experience.
Designed by Jakarta-based Grain & Green, with Fei Effendy as architect in charge under the direction of principal Jeffrey Budiman, TenuNYamaN unfolds as a carefully composed dwelling. It integrates a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, an inner courtyard that draws in light and air, and a living area connected to a pantry and an outdoor deck. TenuNYamaN suggests an easy transition between retreat and social gathering.
Positioned as a luxury prefab modular system, ViroFab targets boutique hospitality developments in remote destinations such as Labuan Bajo, Sumba, and Lombok. It responds to persistent industry challenges, such as unpredictable timelines, cost overruns, and inconsistent build quality, by introducing factory-controlled precision into the construction process.
Crucially, ViroFab reframes modularity not as a limitation but as a platform for design agency. Architects retain authorship, while Viro acts as both development partner and engineering translator. Through a mass customisation approach, the system allows flexibility in layout, materiality, and detailing. It enables each project to remain distinct while benefiting from the efficiencies of modular construction.
