Thailand is a land of rich cultural heritage, stunning beauty, and warm hospitality, which makes it a top destination for travelers from around the world. One of the best ways to understand the tourism industry in Thailand is by being part of Thailand Travel Mart, a premier travel trade show that showcases the best of what the country has to offer. Indonesia Design is honoured to be invited to Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2025 in Chiang Mai to witness the vibrant Thailand tourism industry and, at the same time, enjoy its post-tour after the event.

Chiang Mai Royal Park Rajapruek

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has officially launched Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2025, taking place from 4 to 6 June in Chiang Mai, with a strong focus on sustainability, soft power, and digital transformation. This carbon-neutral event champions meaningful travel through Thailand’s ‘Five Must-Do’ experiences, which are Must Taste, Must Try, Must Buy, Must Seek, and Must See, and celebrates Lanna’s heritage while equipping local businesses to compete globally through innovation and responsible tourism.

The Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2025, with a theme of "Amazing Thailand: Your Stories Never End," is a must-visit event for travel enthusiasts, offering a unique opportunity to connect with tourism professionals, discover hidden gems, and immerse oneself in the culture of Thailand. This year, the event attracted a record-setting 250 Thai tourism sellers and 406 buyers from 53 countries, with most of them coming from China, India, Great Britain, and Australia. An estimated 13,000 business appointments were made, an increase compared to 2024. From colourful cultural performances to interactive workshops and networking sessions, TTM+25 provides a comprehensive overview of the diverse experiences available in the country.

The City of Chiang Mai

Nestled in the verdant landscapes of Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai, the city for this year's TTM+25, stands out as a cultural and natural gem. This region, known for its rich history, vibrant traditions, and breathtaking scenery, offers an unforgettable journey for those seeking an authentic, slow-living travel experience.

Chiang Mai itself is the largest city in northern Thailand and it used to serve as the capital of the Lanna Kingdom. Majestic walls and moats surround the city's Old Town. Chiang Mai is also home to hundreds of elaborate temples, including the revered Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, located just outside the city. Not to forget a local market called Warorot Market, the oldest fresh market in town.

The Post-Tour

Lampang, the City of Horses

Known as the city of horses, Lampang offers a charming Old Town with well-preserved colonial architecture. Horse-drawn carriages still clip-clop along the streets, offering a nostalgic way to tour the city's historic sites and local markets.

Lampang-Wat Phrathat Doi Phra Chan

One of Lampang's most significant temples, Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, is a sacred pilgrimage site with a stunning Lanna-style chedi. Visitors can marvel at the intricate murals depicting the life of the Buddha and soak in the serene atmosphere of this ancient temple. Also, a visit to Wat Phra That Doi Phra Chan is a must. Situated at the serene top of the hill Doi Phra Chan, many visitors are awed by the replica statue of the Great Buddha of Kamakura, the Naga stairs, and the arch doorway leading to the panoramic scenery of the green surroundings.

Visitors to Lampang will also do the city tour by horse carriage that takes them to see the significant must-see spots in Lampang, such as the city hall, clock tower, Lampang governor's residence, Ratsadaphisek Bridge, community area, and the busy market.

Doi Inthanon, the Roof of Thailand

One of the post-tour destinations will take you to step beyond Chiang Mai’s cityscape and into its hidden gems. From tranquil forests to artisanal traditions, visitors can experience a journey that rejuvenates the body, mind, and spirit—where culture, wellness, and nature intertwine in unexpected ways.

Doi Inthanon

Rising to a height of 2,565 metres, Doi Inthanon is the highest peak in Thailand and a paradise for nature lovers. The national park surrounding the mountain offers lush forests, cascading waterfalls, and diverse wildlife, making it a haven for hikers and many bird watchers. At the summit of Doi Inthanon, there are two pagodas. The two pagodas on Doi Inthanon are the King and Queen Pagodas, officially named Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon and Phra Mahathat Naphaphonphumisiri. These striking structures were built to commemorate the 60th birthdays of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX) and Queen Sirikit, in 1987 and 1992, respectively, and are a popular attraction within Doi Inthanon National Park.

In Doi Inthanon, visitors can visit Mae Klang Luang Karen village to enjoy an authentic farm-to-table dining experience in a scenic Karen village, surrounded by vibrant rice terraces, before taking the Pha Dok Sieo nature trail, a beautiful hike through lush forests, flowing waterfalls, and terraced rice fields.

Chiang Dao, a Tranquil Escape

Nestled humbly within the Chiang Dao mountains lies a village, a century-old haven, where the majestic Doi Luang Chiang Dao graces every view, a gentle reminder of the valley's enduring beauty. The only sub-alpine vegetation in the country is found here, as in the Himalayas and southern China.

Chiang Dao Montain from afar

Chiang Dao Cave is a mesmerizing underground labyrinth filled with ancient stalactites and stalagmites, and it is where the mystical Tham Chiang Dao Temple lies. Exploring the extraordinary chambers of this natural wonder is a mystical experience that transports visitors to another world. Legends of the guardian spirits and the revered Tanjai Buddha image add a spiritual essence to this natural wonder.

Yatika Boutique Resort, a serene hidden gem

The beautiful Yatika Boutique Resort

Nestled amidst lush rice fields, Yatika Boutique Resort is located in the heart of Chiang Dao, seamlessly blends rural charm with modern comfort, offering a serene escape into nature. This boutique retreat offers stylish rooms and suites with a touch of local charm, with attentive service creating a home-away-from-home ambiance for discerning travellers.
