The entrance to Opulent Living 2025: Embarking on a Design Odyssey is far more than a point of arrival. It serves as a quiet prologue, a gentle moment of anticipation before the rest of the exhibition unfolds. Designed by Cosmas Gozali of Atelier Cosmas Gozali, the Jetty titled The Light of Travel has quickly become one of the show’s most magnetic spaces. It is a passage that behaves like a destination. Dramatic yet serene, bold yet meditative, it has a way of lingering in one’s memory long after the experience ends.
Cosmas drew inspiration from the iconic artwork The Great Wave off Kanagawa. Rather than interpreting its imagery literally, he translated its rhythm, contrasts, and sense of suspended motion into an architectural expression. Opposing forces come into dialogue: softness with strength, illumination with shadow, stillness with movement. This interplay creates a spatial yin and yang, mirroring the eternal balance that guides both design and life.
The journey begins with an arresting sight. A large rectangular wall accent is composed of stained glass fragments arranged like a mosaic. Fiery orange pieces are set beside deep and varied shades of blue, creating a vivid moment reminiscent of sunlight piercing the surface of seawater. The glass appears almost alive as it extends from the wall, and its luminous colours glow beautifully on the polished floor.
On the surrounding walls, rich blue velvet introduces sculptural warmth. This is juxtaposed with a deeper blue expressed through ceramic mosaic tiles, producing a subtle visual rhythm. Plush against intricate, warm against cool. Each contrast is deliberate and contributes to the narrative of harmony.
Verticality arrives through a series of mesh wire columns painted in a brass tone and finished with gold aluminium stripes. Light in weight yet confident in presence, they rise like beams of light pushing upward through water. Beneath them, a blue marble floor inlaid with gold mosaic accents brings a gentle shimmer that completes the Jetty’s layered composition.
Thoughtful illumination by Erreluce enhances every texture with depth and sensitivity. The placement of a Raku Portable Lamp from Rifyo on a corner table adds a soft, intimate glow that warms the entire scene and anchors the installation with a touch of human scale.
Visitors rarely treat the Jetty as a simple walkway. They pause. They settle into the Knoll Platner armchair and side table from Rifyo, thoughtfully positioned along the route. Some linger with quiet contemplation, while others gather for conversation. The space even hosted an evening of music and celebration, its theatrical ambiance naturally suited for connection. Here, people do not merely transition from one room to another. They experience a moment of stillness, a moment that invites reflection.
The Jetty was brought to life with precision by Skala Maxima Griya and Anugerah Sinergi Bersama, and supported by exceptional partners including Magran, Singres, DATS, LAFLO, Lelco, Rifyo, EZTU Glass, VIVERE Group, PVD Paint, Daikin Indonesia, and Daikin Proshop Sinar Berkat Harapan. Their collective expertise elevates The Light of Travel into a compelling testament to collaborative artistry.
Through this Jetty, Cosmas Gozali has crafted more than an entrance. He has created an emotional threshold. A moment of wonder that asks visitors to pause, breathe, and embrace the beauty of transition. In Opulent Living 2025, the voyage does not simply begin here. It becomes unforgettable here.
