Nestled within 192 square metres of land in one of Jakarta’s most prestigious locations, MOIE Nest is a contemporary residence neatly tucked away to accommodate a family’s lifestyle. Designed by the remarkable Alex Bayusaputro of Genius Loci, MOIE Nest embodies a unique concept of ‘elevated tranquillity.’ “The design seeks to maximise space, natural light, ventilation, and connectivity whilst delivering a serene and luxurious living experience,” Alex explained.
As he guided us through this exceptional house, Alex further said, “It is elevated, utilising the second and third floors for the primary living spaces and bedrooms, with a rooftop terrace offering breathtaking cityscape views.”
Upon entering this urban hideaway, you can feel an overwhelming sense of MOIE Nest. The design showcases the sleek lines characteristic of modern homes, with abundant natural light and seamless airflow providing a warm welcome to all who enter.
Alex passionately explained the design and functionality of each floor in detail, starting with the ground floor, which houses a spacious garage capable of accommodating up to four cars and a helper’s quarters. “The layout of the ground floor optimises the available space whilst ensuring unobstructed vehicle flow in the garage. And the functional use of space guarantees resident convenience whilst maintaining a sleek and uncluttered aesthetic.”
The first floor is dedicated to the main living and dining areas, strategically separated by a small swimming pool, adding an elegant touch and creating a natural boundary between the spaces. “This arrangement promotes cross ventilation and ensures the living spaces are bathed in natural light,” the renowned designer pointed out.
An open void above the living area imparts a sense of grandeur with high ceilings, enhancing the overall spaciousness and facilitating the free flow of air and light. Large glass windows and sliding doors connect the living and dining areas to the pool and outdoor space, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living. “This design fosters a seamless transition, allowing residents to enjoy the beauty of nature while lounging indoors,” he revealed.
The second floor is allocated to two bedrooms, each with views of the pool and the living area below. Alex described how the strategic positioning of these bedrooms ensures privacy whilst maintaining a connection to the heart of the house. He also highlighted that the design incorporates en-suite bathrooms and ample storage solutions to enhance their comfort and functionality.

The entire third-floor level is dedicated to a luxurious master suite. “This space offers the ultimate retreat, complete with a private balcony, stunning views, and an en-suite bathroom,” Alex described. The master suite provides an atmosphere of relaxation and serenity, ensuring maximum privacy and tranquillity. Meanwhile, the outdoor space seamlessly connects with nature and the surrounding environment, creating a retreat-like ambiance.
“The rooftop terraces on the fourth floor serve as an entertainment haven with breathtaking cityscape views. It is a dynamic and flexible space designed to enhance the outdoor living experience, ideal for al fresco gatherings, and it offers
a picturesque setting that embraces the beauty of open air,” Alex further explained, adding that the space provides a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle, creating a comforting atmosphere for relaxation and enjoyment.
