ARCH:ID 2024 aims to bring together architects, design enthusiasts, developers, urban planner, government agencies and professionals in the architecture and built industry for a thought-provoking and innovative experience. Firman Herwanto explains the programs

As announced in the previous press conference, this year’s exhibition is curated by renowned architects Yacobus Gatot S. Surarjo, Nelly Daniel, and I Ketut Dirgantara. “Public space is a necessity for the society. And Indonesia has had many forms of it, including alun-alun (city square). But do we have enough of it nowadays? This theme is part of a movement where these public spaces are initiated by people or community, ones that are inclusive to all kinds of people,” says Nelly in the press conference. In that spirit, the exhibition will also be accessible to disabled visitors, for example by incorporating ramps for wheelchair; Talk Series that will be held in several booths, each designed by Labo, Maria Rosantina, Atelier Riri, and Helen Agustine; Hackathon, which is a 6-hour competition in collaboration with BIM; 2-day conference with Urban Forum topics on the first day and Architecture Forum on the second day. Also present at the press conference: Sibarani Sofian as one of the speakers of The Urban Forum, and Antonius Richard as one of the speakers of The Architecture Forum.

The exhibition will feature over 300 stands showcasing innovative products and services from both local and international brands, including manufacturers of architectural products, building materials, and interior design. It is a big opportunity to explore the latest trends in architecture and design. 17,000 visitors are expected to visit the event. Firman Herwanto as the program director stated, “By adopting the theme of ‘Placemaking: Tolerance,’ the curators aim to create an 'in-between space' within architectural composition, a space that is inclusive for all, and allows room for social activities of the community, down to the often-overlooked details within urban spaces. Hopefully, this exhibition will become a significant milestone in the field of architectural exhibitions in Indonesia, serving as a benchmark in the creation of temporary spaces rich in quality and the best values of the showcased products.”
