The second edition of Jakarta Doodle Fest (JDF) took place from 1-3 November 2024 at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta. Themed “Art to Cart”, it emphasized the importance of artists gaining financial benefit from their works. This topic was presented and discussed through a number of talk sessions with artists, lawyers and brands’ marketing specialist as the speakers. One of the highlighted topics was intellectual property, which many Indonesian artists are still not aware of.
Another key program of JDF 2024 was the art market. Merchandise booths were spread through three floors, indoor and outdoor. Creations in the form of stationery, clothing, jewellery, art prints and many more became magnets to art and creativity enthusiasts.
The event also housed an art exhibition, “All the Small Things”, initiated by Muklay, a well-known Indonesian visual artist. “I learned that a painting is considered an artwork when it is in 50x50cm dimension at the minimum. So, in this exhibition, all the paintings are on canvas in that dimension only,” Muklay explained.
